Moving Through Trauma - Tools, Herbs, Flower Essences, and Other Sundry Magic

In this interactive class we will taste and try herbs and flower essences for the many iterations of trauma.

We will think critically about matching herbal actions to the different energetic manifestations of trauma, working our way through grounding, bolstering, protective, sweet, stimulating, and aromatic remedies.

And no trauma toolkit would be complete without the magic of flower essences, so we will also be tasting and learning about some little known desert flower essences for trauma.

Finally, we will practice some somatic tools for grounding the body and finding safety.

Cost is $25 for the public and $20 for CSCH students, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Space for this class is limited - please pre.register

The Energetics of Trauma

Traumas (both big and not-so-obvious) can have an enormous influence on how we access safety in the world, in relationship, in community, and especially how we find safety in our own bodies.

In this class we will explore the roots and neurology of trauma.

  •  What is trauma?

  • Why do traumatic experiences affect different people in different ways? We will break down the fascinating neurology of what happens in the brain during trauma and why, with an eye toward the importance of social structures.

The longstanding implications of trauma can impact our capacity for imagination, hope, and problem solving, as well as affecting our relationships ourselves and to the world.

Understanding the biological and neurological mechanisms at play can go a long way toward increasing compassion and understanding, both for ourselves and others, as well as helping us to begin to move through the places where we feel the most stuck and afraid. In this class we will honor resilience of survivors of trauma, while gaining a greater understanding of the many factors at play in trauma.

This class will provide insight for both the layperson and the practitioner alike.

Cost: $25 for public, $20 for CSCH students, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
