Blossom, Berry & Thorn Elixir

An elixir from four different rose family plants, this formula helps ease anxiety, relax tension, and cool hot heads, hearts, and bellies. This is a multi.purpose remedy that helps show the way that herbs can do a hundred different things at once.

We use this formula for all manner of hot & tense agitation - it can be helpful for anxiety, heartache, grief, allergic reactions, nausea, indigestion, and other hot & gurgly belly yuck.

This formula helps us to remember our softness and also the sweetness of life.

  • Peach is an excellent softening relaxant, especially for folks who tend toward hot aggravation (think: aggravated in summertime, sensitive to heat, easily irritated skin that tends toward redness), and can also be helpful for nausea & allergic reactions. Classically used in southern folk medicine for grief.
  • Rose is at once softening and powerfully protective to the spiritual heart (those thorns tho!). It helps to relax anxiety that comes from boundaries that have been violated while also helping to strengthen our sense of self and our ability to recognize and enforce our own boundaries. It helps us remember our softness and sweetness when life has soured our hearts. One of my teachers talks about using rose where something has been lost or stolen, as is the case with many kinds of trauma.
  • Hawthorn is one of the most poopularly used heart tonics around, helpful both for the physical heart and for the spiritual heart (that is, the heart that hurts when we are 'heartbroken'). Hawthorn's thorns are like lances and are powerfully protective, while also helping to differentiate self and other - think of the times when the weight and overwhelm of the world leave us wondering where we end and where everyone else begins. This makes hawthorn particularly useful for folks who tend to let everything in - sensory overstimulation, porous boundaries, empathic exhaustion, and those in helping fields who have a hard time not *taking on* other people's stuff.
  • Cherry is sweet, relaxant, and helps specifically with respiratory tension. Commonly used as a relaxant in irritated, hot coughs, cherry also helps to bring the breath when we are so stressed that we forget to breathe. Helps relax nervous irritability.
